PURPOSE OF ACADEMY FOR GOVERNANCE

Inadvertently governance in Nigeria has been portrayed and accepted as an all comers affairs where competence does not matter and as such does not count for sourcing the drivers and players in the governance system. We in the Academy for Governance do not subscribe to this notion. If management has acquired the status of a profession and leadership has been so elevated, it becomes imperative that governance which amalgamates strategic leadership and strategic management must also advance towards professionalism. Accordingly players in governance, especially the key drivers, must acquire requisite competence in the art and conduct of governance. Competence is not a generic instrument. It is task specific and is best acquired in an academy designed for that purpose. This Academy is designed specifically for this purpose.
